Joanne was one of my dearest friends.  I still miss her to this day!  Keith, she was all that and much more!

Ramona Lynn Lewis (Gerber)

Joanne  was one of my first playmates.  Her family lived across the street from mine on Albion before we moved away and then back again two houses down.  We lived in my parent's home from 1958 to 1961.  So, we were pretty young.

She always seemed so self possessed.  Even as a little kid, she was always calm and mature.  What I remember the most about her is her smile--her sweet and gentle smile.

I was attending the 1st Whole Life Expo at the IX CENTER in
2000 with Deepak Chopra and Issac Hayes. And there was Joann
being pushed about in a wheelchair by her sister Kathy. I stopped to talk to her previously unaware that she was ill much less terminally ill. What struck me was her paying obvious attention to everyone and everything, as if she wanted to experience her surroundings in minute detail. Her face was fresh and her eyes were so deep and penitrating. Boldly looking, as she took in the hussle and bussel of the activities surrounding her. I gently gave her a hug and kiss on the forehead. She acknowledged my gesture with her eyes, she did not speak. I thanked Kathy for allowing me to say goodbye and off they went. I thought how lucky was I to have had such an opportunty. I know we will see each other again. To think that was 15y ago. How time flys. May she rest in peace.
